Fiber cement boards, of which Nutec is a brand made by Everite, is made by mixing short fibers into a portland cement, which is then compressed to create a sheet material. The result is an incredibly durable product that can be finished like any cement surface.

The boards are made to SABS standards and are used to clad the outside of the structure. It is hard wearing giving longevity to your Wendy house.

Nutec overlapping planks give the traditional look of a traditional wendy house but the added benefits of using fiber cement boards. Strips of fiber cement board are laid over the 'plank' below to create a structure that allows water to run off more easily.

The other advantage of overlapping strips of fiber board is that should damage occur to a board, only that one board need be replaced. With flat panels, one small repair can mean replacing half the side of your Wendy house.

The disadvantage is that it is a slower construction process and therefore is slightly more costly than using flat sheets of fiber board.

Overlapping pine boards are what is referred to as the ‘traditional’ look for a Wendy house. Treated pine boards are fixed to a strong timber frame so that the bottom edge of each board overlaps the one below it.

This way of overlapping the boards means that water runs down and drips off the bottom of each plank rather than running down the whole wall.

Boards are treated to exacting SABS specifications to ensure a quality, long lasting, Wendy house. With the proper care and maintenance, pine cladding will give a cost effective, long term solution to your Wendy house needs.

Roof options

Flat Pitch

A flat roof slopes from the front to the rear of the building. Standard heights are 2.4m at the front to 2.2m at the rear. Rain will run off the back of the building, away from doors and windows. This configuration can be changed for your requirements. Prices quoted are for corrugated sheeting.

Pitched Roof

This is a classic ‘a-frame’ style of roof. The roof slopes both directions from the center of the building, so the pitch of the roof is higher than with a flat pitched roof for the same building height. A pitched roof tends to look better but also the steeper angle of the roof provides better run off of water.

Flooring

Wooden floor

Wooden pallet flooring is the standard option on a Wendy house. Wooden joists are supported on a system of levelled blocks. This type of floor is solid, and strong, however, does not have a solid foundation. The advantage is that it is far easier to move a wooden floor Wendy house than it is one with a concrete foundation.

Concrete floor

A concrete slab is laid as the base of the Wendy house, created a more solid, permanent foundation. Slabs are laid to SABS requirements. Concrete floors will remove any bounciness that is often associated with wooden pallet flooring. A concrete slab can be finished to your specification after the building is completed.

Windows and doors

Wood

Wooden window frames are made from locally sourced hardwoods, usually a by-product of the removal of invader species. They are built by reputable manufacturers to SABS specifications. A low cost option that is easy to maintain and can be painted to suit any colour scheme.

Aluminium

Pre-sealed aluminium window and doors are virtually maintenance free, have thicker glass than traditional windows and are sealed, making them more durable to weather. They are made by local manufacturers and comply with all SABS standards.
